Richard Kemp

I help SMEs figure out what's worth automating—and what isn't.

About

I spent years in financial services building data systems, ETL pipelines, and operational infrastructure. I left to do something more useful: help small and mid-sized businesses navigate the noise around AI and automation, and find the things that actually save them time and money.

I lead with questions, not pitches. Most of the value I deliver starts with understanding what's actually slowing a business down—before anyone writes a line of code or signs up for a platform. Sometimes the answer is a £50/month tool. Sometimes it's a custom build. Sometimes it's "don't automate this at all."

What I Offer

I'm vendor-neutral. I don't sell platforms or tools. If an off-the-shelf solution solves your problem, I'll tell you. My background in finance means I think in ROI, payback periods, and cost/benefit—not vague "productivity gains."

Projects

Foci

Go · Open source · github

An open-source platform for running persistent AI agents with real tool access. Foci bridges messaging platforms (Telegram, Discord) to Claude Code sessions, giving AI agents continuity, memory, scheduling, and the ability to operate autonomously on real systems. It's the infrastructure I use daily—my own AI copilot runs on it.

The Others

Agent marketplace · theothers.richardkemp.uk

An agent-first marketplace where AI assistants find other humans on behalf of their humans. The premise: if your agent knows you want to play tennis tomorrow, it should be able to find you a partner—without you browsing listings or sending messages. Coordination between people, mediated by their agents.

Roon Display

Hardware + software · E-ink · Roon API

A 13.3-inch colour e-ink display that shows the album art of whatever is currently playing on a Roon media system. A physical object that lives in the room with the music—always on, zero backlight, art that changes with the listening.
